Talking Inspiration with SeventyTwo˚

Processed with VSCO with se3 preset There is a fine line between inspiration and imitation and in today’s world that line is getting harder and harder to decipher. With so much “inspiration” at our fingertips and being exposed to so much visual stimuli as a part of our everyday scroll through social media, it’s only natural that you start picking up on what others are doing and how they are doing it and thus be influenced to create in a certain way. This can be dangerous in the long run when you don’t know if what you are doing is because of who you are and what you love or if it’s because you were subconsciously influenced to do so. Did we lose you yet?

Anyways, we found ourselves in this exact dilemma in which we started questioning, is this the content we want to create? Or are we just creating in a “certain way” because that’s what everyone else is doing? Once we realized this we decided to step away from social media and go back to basics. Back to what makes us truly feel something, what inspires us, what makes us think and what is authentically ours. That is the content we want to create and we needed to be our own muses to do so.

We decided to cut out magazines and read excerpts from books we love and really defined our vision and what we’re all about. It’s easy to get lost in what everyone else is doing instead of focusing on your personal growth and innate creativity. Something that really helps us when we’re in a creative rut is looking to strong women that are doing things their way and building authentic brands with meaning.

It took some time before she realized that she had to be her own inspiration. She realized that if she made clothes she believed in and made her feel good, other people would love it too and connect with her and her brand.
